Plant Life

Temperate deciduous forests have three levels of plants; lichens, moss, ferns, wildflowers, and other small plants found on the ground. Shrubs are around in the middle level, and trees like maple, oak, birch, magnolia, sweet gum and beech trees are the third level to the three of this biome. Within the biome, you can also find a few conifers. The temperate deciduous forest ecosystem has a few types of plants, like conifers, which the taiga ecosystem has as well (New Hampshire Public Television, 5&6).
